Email, campaigns and consent

Launch email campaigns with audience counts up front while one send chokepoint applies consent, suppression, quiet hours and your country's rules to every single message — blocked sends are logged, never silently dropped.

Every message you send through Finocket — campaign, sequence step or reminder — passes through one server-side checkpoint that verifies consent, the suppression list, template class and quiet hours before it can leave. If a message can't legally go, it's logged as blocked with the reason — never silently dropped.

How do I launch a campaign?

  1. On Campaigns, acknowledge the compliance banner first — it names the law that applies to your country (DPDP for India, the Spam Act for Australia, CAN-SPAM/TCPA for the US) and you re-acknowledge when the rules are updated.
  2. Create a template: subject, body, channel and class (transactional or marketing). A live linter blocks marketing phrases (“offer”, “discount”, “sale”) in templates marked transactional — a template that fails lint cannot send.
  3. Create the campaign, pick your audience — everyone, leads only, or clients only — and see the live count before you confirm.
  4. Launch. Today, only email campaigns can be launched — SMS and WhatsApp templates can be authored and are used for one-off and transactional messages, but campaign launch is email-only for now.
  5. Sends go out in batches and are resume-safe: if a run stops midway, Finish sending picks up exactly where it left off without messaging anyone twice.
  6. The message log shows every recipient's status — queued, sent, blocked, bounced or complained — with the block reason spelled out.

What does the send checkpoint actually check?

In order, on the server, for every message: the template lint gate; the contact's consent state and the suppression list; SMS quiet hours (enforced against the recipient's local time, with stricter state windows in the US); and the channel rules — transactional messages go unless the contact is suppressed, marketing needs a live opt-in. Whatever the outcome, a message row is always written, so your log is the complete truth.

How does unsubscribe work?

Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058 plus List-Unsubscribe headers). It takes effect immediately, with no login and no “are you sure” maze — the contact lands on a confirmation page. Consent is an append-only ledger: an unsubscribe is a new row, and a later express opt-in (for example, through one of your forms) can lift it. Complaints and hard bounces never auto-lift.

Who can send?

Owners and assistants launch campaigns; accountants are read-only. The module is enforced server-side — if it's disabled for the workspace, the campaign APIs refuse even direct calls.

Frequently asked questions

Is bulk WhatsApp messaging legal in India?

Yes, through the official WhatsApp Business API with Meta-approved templates and recorded customer opt-in — that's the DPDP-compliant route. Bulk messaging from a normal WhatsApp app or unofficial tools violates WhatsApp's terms and risks number bans. Finocket only sends via official API providers and checks consent first.

Do I need DLT registration for WhatsApp?

No — DLT registration is TRAI's system for commercial SMS in India (sender ID plus registered templates). WhatsApp instead requires a Business Solution Provider (BSP) or Meta Cloud API account with Meta-approved templates. Finocket handles both gates: SMS waits for DLT details, WhatsApp waits for approved templates.

What does the DPDP Act require before I message customers?

Free, specific, informed consent — and proof of it. Finocket records the exact opt-in wording, timestamp and source for every form submission, blocks marketing to anyone without a live opt-in, and honours withdrawal (unsubscribe) immediately. Transactional messages about an existing relationship are treated differently from marketing.

What are the TRAI TCCCPR rules in simple terms?

TRAI's telecom commercial-communication rules require registered senders and templates (DLT), verifiable customer consent, working opt-out, and no promotional SMS in night hours. Finocket's send checkpoint enforces consent and quiet hours automatically, and SMS simply stays queued until your DLT registration is in place.

Can I legally email my existing customer list?

Genuinely transactional messages (invoices, payment reminders, order updates) may go to customers unless they're suppressed. Marketing offers need an opt-in. In Finocket the template's class decides which rule applies — and the linter stops you accidentally sending marketing under a transactional label.

Why does a message show 'blocked' in the log?

The log states the exact reason: no consent, suppressed after an unsubscribe or complaint, quiet hours, or a failed template gate. Blocked is a recorded outcome, not an error — it's the checkpoint doing its job, and the row is your compliance evidence.

What is a suppression list?

The set of contacts no message may go to: unsubscribes, spam complaints, hard bounces, and leads who never gave consent. Finocket maintains it automatically and checks it on every send. A fresh express opt-in lifts an unsubscribe; complaints and bounces stay suppressed.
