Gold runs on trust and grams. This playbook maps a jeweller’s counter onto Finocket - item-wise purity, serials for pieces, FIFO cost layers for stock that appreciates, and GST invoices that split metal and making correctly.
Once your workspace uses the jeweller catalogue kit, the Items screen and its “New” button say Piece and Pieces instead of the generic “Item” and “Items & Services” - the same screen, in words a jeweller recognises.
Set up your items with purity and HSN
Create items per line (22K chain, 18K ring) with HSN 7113 and your rates; the catalog keeps counter staff picking, not typing.Track pieces by serial, stock by FIFO
Switch valuable lines to serial tracking with FIFO cost layers - each piece carries its own cost, and a sold serial can’t sell twice.Bill metal and making on one invoice
Separate line items keep metal value and making charges clean for GST; once you’ve added your UPI ID, the PDF carries a UPI QR for counter payment.Price a line by karat instead of one blended rate
On a jewellery line, choose “Price by karat, stone & making charge” to show the metal weight, today’s rate for that purity, any stone value, and making/wastage as their own lines - all before GST, which is still applied the same way as every other invoice line. Enter today’s rate per karat first; a line priced against a rate older than your shop’s freshness setting is flagged so a stale rate never quietly prices a real sale.Net old gold a customer brings in against the sale
Under Old-gold exchange, weigh what the customer brought in, enter today’s rate and any assay/impurity deduction, and pick the invoice it settles. It posts as one balanced entry - the metal taken in against the receivable it pays down - and can never exceed the invoice total; the difference belongs on a credit note instead. Your accountant chooses the old-gold inventory account in Jewellery settings first - nothing posts until it is set, and the reason is shown on screen if it isn’t.Keep a record of customers' gold savings (record-keeping only)
If you run a gold savings or “digital gold” arrangement at the counter, Digital gold records keeps each customer’s balance in grams. Open an account for the customer, record what they paid you - the grams are worked out at today’s 24K or 22K rate - and later record the grams they redeem against one of their own jewellery invoices, valued at that day’s rate. Entries are never edited; a mistake is corrected with a new entry. This is a record-keeping tool, not a live digital gold product: money does not move through Finocket, there is no payment or KYC step, and customers cannot buy through it. Your accountant chooses the digital gold liability and price-difference accounts under Jewellery settings before anything posts to your books.Send work to a karigar and take in repairs
Under Karigar job orders, issue metal (and any tagged pieces) to a karigar you have added as a supplier. When the work comes back, record the weight received - the wastage works out on its own - then settle: the making charge and the wastage, valued at today’s rate, post as one balanced entry in your books, and only once. Book a customer’s piece in under Repairs and move it from estimate to delivery, then settle what the karigar is owed. A tagged piece shows as “with karigar” or “in repair” while it is out, can’t be sold until it is back, and returns to stock by itself. The Manufacturing module needs to be on, and your accountant chooses the karigar payable, wastage loss and metal inventory accounts in Jewellery settings first.Reconcile the month
Bank import matches the UPI settlements; GSTR-1/3B build from your invoices.Check rate history, your karigars, and who can do what
Rate history shows every rate you or your team have ever entered, grouped by metal and purity - a rate is never edited or deleted, so correcting one means recording a new, later one. The karigar directory lists every goldsmith you work with, what you owe them on open bills, how much metal is with them right now, and how much of their work is done but not yet settled - open a karigar to jump straight to their own job orders. As the owner, Who can do what is a read-only view of your team’s access to catalogue, rates-adjacent, inventory, POS, loyalty and karigar work - change it under Team & access, not here.
