Try Finocket with sample data
Seed a realistic sample business with one tap, explore every screen with believable numbers, then clear it all safely — your real entries are never touched.
You can't feel how an accounting app works until it has data. Finocket's sample-data sandbox seeds a realistic small consultancy — clients, projects, payments, expenses across the last two weeks — so you can explore every screen with believable numbers before touching your real books. One tap to seed, one tap to clear.
How do I turn on sample data?
Three places offer it:
- Dashboard first-run card — when your books have zero clients and zero invoices, the "Get started" card offers "Try with sample data" alongside "Add your first client" and "Take a quick tour".
- The tour's Tally branch — if you picked the Tally-user branch on the tour, the final step offers sample data so you land on a populated Day Book.
- Profile → Account & privacy — "Add sample data" and "Clear sample data" buttons, so you can seed and clear on demand at any time.
Prefer not to sign up at all yet? The Try-it doorway pages open a no-signup sandbox so you can poke around first.
What gets seeded?
- Three sample clients — an individual, a builder, a family — each with a Hyderabad address so intra-state GST examples work out of the box.
- Two projects per client, and two site visits per client dated in the last two weeks.
- Four sample payments across UPI, Cash and Bank Transfer.
- Five sample expenses across Travel, Food, Automobile and Health Care.
The dashboard KPIs animate, visits pin to the map, and reports have real-looking shapes — enough to judge every module honestly.
How do I find and remove sample rows later?
Every seeded row starts with [SAMPLE] in its name or description. That means:
- Search or filter for
[SAMPLE]on any list screen to see just the sample rows. - Tap Clear sample data (Profile → Account & privacy) to delete every row carrying the prefix — one-tap cleanup.
The check is on the prefix, not on when a row was entered — so your real entries are never at risk, even if you mixed real work in between.
Can I use sample data and real data together?
Yes, safely. Many people seed samples, learn the screens, add a few real clients, then clear the samples. Because removal keys on the [SAMPLE] prefix, clearing removes only seeded rows and leaves your real books untouched. Just avoid starting your own entries with [SAMPLE].

Frequently asked questions
Will sample data mess up my GST reports?
While seeded, sample invoices and expenses do appear in report screens — that's the point, so you can see how reports behave. Clear the sample data before any real filing; the one-tap clear removes every seeded row and your reports reflect only real entries.
Can I re-seed after clearing?
Yes, as many times as you like. Profile → Account & privacy has both buttons side by side — Add sample data and Clear sample data. Each seed creates a fresh set with the [SAMPLE] prefix; each clear removes exactly that set.
Is there a way to try Finocket without creating an account?
Yes. The Try-it doorway pages open a no-signup sandbox where you can explore with sample-style data before registering. When you're ready, sign up and your real workspace starts clean — seed the sample data there again if you want.
How is clearing sample data safe for my real entries?
Removal matches only rows whose name or description starts with [SAMPLE] — a prefix the seeder puts on everything it creates. Nothing is removed by date, type or amount, so real entries you made before, during or after sampling are untouched.
